Local Missions
COFFEE HOURS – The Society coordinates sponsors and assists to serve coffee hour each Sunday after Divine Liturgy. Chairperson Presvytera Alice Noplos.
MAKARIAS – The Society helps to ease the sorrows of losing a loved one through providing services to hostess a Makaria in the Hermes Rafailides Center, preparing and serving a traditional meal in a warm friendly atmosphere. Chairperson Presvytera Alice Noplos.
ACTIVITIES – Occasionally, the group enjoys a day out or fun activity. Any member is welcome to create a committee or personally facilitate an activity. Activities may include, but are not limited to, speakers, movies, arts and crafts, bus trips, sporting events, games, etc. (Please note: each activity typically has a different leading member. Please contact a board member for a specific lead for a desired activity.)
SOCIAL SERVICES – From our Mission Statement: To aid those who are poor, destitute, hungry, aged, sick, unemployed, orphaned, imprisoned, widowed, handicapped, victims of disasters; to undertake the burial of impoverished persons and offer assistance to anyone who may need the help of the Church through fund raising efforts. Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter food baskets

BAKING – Members prepare the many items used as fund raisers and items needed by other church ministries. These include: Christmas Vasilopita and Easter breads, Paximadia, Saint Demetrios Vespers, Easter Egg dying. Please Note: each baking function typically has a different lead and requests for help are sent out via email. Overall Chairperson Ritsa Economakis.
CALENDAR ACTIVITIES – Throughout the year, there are many special days/events that are sponsored by the Philoptochos. These include Philoptochos Sunday, Christmas Bazaar, Christmas Luncheon, My Ladies Luncheon and the End of Year Dinner. Each activity may have its’ own chairperson/committee that changes year to year. The chairperson is shared during event planning/ticket sales.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES – Special activities include annual fundraisers, ongoing collections, and other endeavors as desired by the membership. Currently we are offering the following special activities: a Spring craft show, BINGO, Christmas Bazaar, Breakfast with Santa, Angel Tree collecting Christmas gifts for needy children, various collections of items requested by local charities as well as cash donations. Other special activities can be added with Board approval, please present your ideas at a general meeting. Each activity may have its own chairperson that changes year to year. The chairperson is shared during event planning, publicizing and ticket sales.
